Mrs Matthews writes about the first rounders heat of the year!
On Tuesday 14th June, a squad of 12 year 6 children took part in the first rounders heat of the year as part of the School Games competitions against Broad Heath, All Souls and Hearsall.
After practising at school, the squad went in with confidence, a good understanding of the rules and worked really well as a team. We had a strong start and won the first game with a whooping 8 rounders capitalising on no balls!
We went on to win the next match. The final match was really close, but we took the win. Stivichall were crowned the overall winners and move onto the next round.
We went to the next round and competed against 5 other schools in the final. The competition was tough, and we lost out in some very close games finishing 4th overall.
Well done to all children that were part of the squad and such a fantastic achievement to reach the final!
