Lady Godiva Visit
On Tuesday 29th March Year 2 were visited by 'Lady Godiva' aka Pru Porretta to retell the famous story of Lady Godiva's ride through the streets of Coventry on horseback wearing no clothes in order to convince her husband to stop taxing the poorest people of Coventry. This lesson formed part of Year 2's 'Street Detectives' topic in which they are studying the local area and its history.
Pru came to school in full costume and Mr. Hartopp was persuaded to dress alongside her as the Earl of Mercia, Lady Godiva's husband. Afterwards, a number of children were then invited to dress in costume to help re-enact the story. The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children and it was great to see history being brought to life in our school hall.
