Stivichall Primary School

Learning at Stivichall is a passport for life

Please read this blog post about the Year 5 trip to St Martin's Church in the fields, this is written by Manveer, Rosie and Aaron in 5S

The experience was good and the people were very kind, and they were well committed to their job. They made the experience fun because they were teaching us about Jesus’ birth and death and how the Easter story worked. They told us about the different perspectives of the story by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. We also had an Easter egg hunt, which was enjoyable. We walked to the church so this reduced pollution and we helped the environment, and also, we didn’t waste petrol/diesel.

As Year 5 of Stivichall Primary School, we enjoyed the trip to St Martin’s Church. When we arrived at the church, we were all shocked at the sheer size of the place. The inside of the church was very welcoming to any visitors, so we immediately felt comfortable in the atmosphere of St Martin’s Church. It was exciting as some of us had never been with the school to the church before, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, they held an Easter egg hunt, which was COVID- friendly. One of the friendly people ran around the church hall with a microphone and asked us where we say the Easter eggs. Some lucky people managed to get an Easter egg, which they enjoyed.

The experience at St Martin’s Church was fun because the people there were very kind and welcoming. They gave us extremely fun activities, which were all based on Easter and the Easter Story, and Jesus’ life story. Also, they told us about stories from the Bible and which disciple told which story. We also saw objects found in a church there as well, which was quite fun. They also told us about the story of Easter, which was quite interesting and the facts we didn’t know about it as well. It was enjoyable because we learnt a lot about Jesus and his disciples, which they taught us in a lively way. Also, the trip there was also very, very exciting as we had never been on a trip like that before. Also, in the end, we were given chocolate as well, which was very kind and loving of them. In summary, we all enjoyed the trip very thoroughly.
