12th December 2008
Dear Parents
Once again it has been a busy and exciting term for all in school. This will be the last letter before Christmas, and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and peaceful holiday.
A final thank you for your support with the PTA Christmas Fayre. We may have raised over £3,000, which we will put to good use by spending it on the children next year.
Christmas Parties
Please remember that the Key Stage 1 Party is on Monday 15th December and the Key Stage 2 Party is on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th December.
The children should bring smaller packed lunches than normal. They can also bring their party clothes in a named bag if they wish to change for the afternoon.
The teachers have already asked for party food. Drinks will be provided by the school.
I have had an email from Santa to say that he will be visiting the school on Tuesday so I hope that the children are very good at home and at school next week.
The Christmas concerts took place this week and the children sang, read and behaved very well. We were all very proud of them, and everyone was impressed with the quality of their singing and reading. Thank you all for attending and thank you to the staff for making such an enjoyable time for us all.
There is no teacher day in January and the children should return to school on Monday 5th January.
Visit to Woodside Methodist Church
This will take place on Tuesday 16th December and the children will be walking to the church at the following times:
Year 2 9.15 am
Reception 9.30 am
Year 1 10.10 am
Parents are very welcome to walk with the children. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you are able to help.
Key Stage 1 Reading Books
Today will be the last day for reading books to go home this term.
Free Books for Schools
We have registered for The Times and the Sunday Times “Free Books for Schools” scheme, which starts in January. Your help in collecting tokens would be much appreciated – please send them in to the school office and we will be able to exchange them for free books.
Violin Tuition
There will be no violin lessons on Tuesday 6th January (Performing Arts Service Training Day).
Ricky’s Dance
Please remember that Ricky’s last session for the term was yesterday, and his first session next term will be on Thursday 15th January.
Knitting Club Christmas Raffle for the Dogs Home at Honiley
Every year Mrs Elliott and the members of the Knitting Club organise a raffle to help buy food for the dogs at Honiley. So far this term they have raised £46.65. Year 6 pupils will be selling tickets each lunchtime until Christmas, and Mrs Elliott will also be selling tickets on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtime in the Yellow circulation space. Tickets are 20p each, 50p for 3, or £1 per strip. Let’s see if we can raise some more.
